Iain Young started designing and making jewellery in the early 80s, firstly in London’s Soho and Bond Street and then in the jewellery district of Clerkenwell before moving to Shropshire in 2007.
Many people know him for his silver jewellery collections for the fashion designer Jean Muir; a collaboration which spanned 25 years and over 60 collections.
He has produced men’s jewellery for Turnbull & Asser and Paul Smith in London and Saks 5th Avenue, Barneys and Nieman Marcus in New York.
His corporate work includes a range of gold prizes for Lancôme UK, sports trophies and jewellery and bodywear for film, TV and advertising.
Much of his work whether figurative or abstract is inspired by a fascination for balance, counter balance and movement. This interest has led him to develop a range of garden sculpture in aluminium and stainless steel currently in the form of wind vanes (www.iainyoungsculpture.co.uk).
His signature collection ‘mobile earrings’ is as much fine art as jewellery and comprises of single dynamic earrings to be worn on their own. These styles range from a Calder mobile to a beautifully balanced map of the world. All his mobiles have matching stands so that when they’re not being worn they can be admired as miniature pieces of art.
Working in silver, gold and platinium his pieces can be ordered from his current collections or as one-off commissions.
